A German industrialist invests 34 million Euros in Lorraine

German industrial group GPE is studying with researchers at the University of Saarbrücken the setting up of a 30-hectare photovoltaic energy park at Faulquemont (Moselle, Lorraine). The project involves the installation of 50,000 photovoltaic panels expected to produce 9 million kilowatt hours.

At the same time and on the same site, the company plans to set up a biomass unit and a plant to produce seaweed used in the characterisation of materials for the aeronautical industry. The total investment is thought to amount to some 34 million Euros. The activities should start up at the beginning of 2012.
